Syllabus & Exam Pattern

Selection Process & Exam Pattern

The selection consists of two main stages. Your final selection will be based solely on your performance in the Personal Interview .

Stage 1: Shortlisting based on GATE Score

  • Process: Candidates are shortlisted for the interview based on their valid GATE 2024, 2025, or 2026 scores .

  • Shortlisting Ratio: For every vacancy, 12 candidates will be shortlisted (a 1:12 ratio) .

  • Weightage: GATE score is only for shortlisting. It carries zero weightage in the final merit list .

Stage 2: Personal Interview (The Final Exam)

This is the most crucial stage, as your final selection depends entirely on your performance here.

  • Interview Dates: Tentatively scheduled from 8th June to 19th June, 2026 .

  • Interview Venues: Will be held in Mumbai (Maharashtra)Narora (Uttar Pradesh)Madras (Tamil Nadu), and Kaiga (Karnataka) . You will need to select your preference in the online application form.

  • Qualifying Marks (Minimum % to pass):

    • Unreserved (UR): 70% .

    • EWS/SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/PwBD: 60% .

  • Final Merit List: Based only on interview marks. GATE scores are used only to break ties if two candidates get the same interview marks .

  • Electrical: Power Systems, Electrical Machines, Power Electronics, Control Systems, Switchgear and Protection.

  • Electronics: Digital/Analog Electronics, Communication Systems, Microprocessors, Control Systems.

  • Civil: Structural Analysis, Design of Steel/Concrete Structures, Soil Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics.

  • Chemical: Mass Transfer, Chemical Reaction Engineering, Thermodynamics, Process Control.

2. Nuclear Sector & General Awareness
