Job Description

This notification announces the Sub-Inspector in Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces Examination, 2026, conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. The examination is for recruitment to Sub-Inspector (General Duty) in CAPFs, Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police, and Sub-Inspector (Fire) in CISF. All questions are objective multiple‑choice type, set in Hindi and English. Negative marking: -0.25 for Paper‑I and -0.50 for Paper‑II.

Educational Qualification

Educational Qualification for Sub Inspector in Delhi Police and Sub Inspector (GD) in CAPFs is a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university or equivalent. Candidates appearing for the degree may also apply provided they obtain the qualification before the cut‑off date.

Educational Qualification for Sub Inspector (Fire) is either:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized university or equivalent,
  • or Matriculation (or equivalent) plus a three‑year diploma in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, Automobiles, Chemical, Mining, Aeronautical, Telecommunication Engineering or an equivalent examination.

Higher qualifications such as B.Tech/M.Tech are considered advantageous provided the basic diploma qualification is satisfied.

Degrees, diplomas, and certificates awarded through open and distance learning or online modes are recognized for Central Government employment only when approved by the Distance Education Bureau of the University Grants Commission and recognized for the relevant period in which the qualification was obtained.

Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Nursing, Pharmacy, Architecture, Physiotherapy, and other prohibited disciplines are generally not permitted through open and distance learning or online modes.

B.Tech degrees or diplomas in Engineering awarded by IGNOU to students enrolled up to the academic year 2009-10 are treated as valid wherever applicable.

Eligibility Criteria

A candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India,
  • A subject of Nepal,
  • A subject of Bhutan.

Candidates belonging to Nepal or Bhutan shall have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

Departmental candidates amongst Constables, Head Constables and Assistant Sub-Inspectors of Delhi Police with minimum three years' service and not exceeding the age limit may also apply for Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police-Male (Open Vacancies).

Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/EWS/Ex-Servicemen candidates is as determined by CAPFs, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Delhi Police per extant Government Orders. The Commission makes selection based on vacancies reported by MHA (CAPFs) and Delhi Police and has no role in deciding the number of vacancies.

Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Category:

Ex-Servicemen who have secured employment in civil services under the Government in Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts on a regular basis after claiming reservation benefits are eligible. They are exempt from certain reservation concessions but can avail subsequent employment reservations if they immediately join civil employment and provide self-declaration of prior application dates.

For departmental candidates applying for Sub-Inspector (Executive) in Delhi Police-Male: Not more than 30 years of age (33 years for OBC and 35 years for SC/ST) as on the crucial date given at Para 5.1.

General: 20-25 years (born 02.08.2001 to 01.08.2006).

SI(FIRE) in CISF: 18-30 years (born 02.08.1996 to 01.08.2008).

SC/ST: +5 years relaxation.

OBC: +3 years relaxation.

Ex-Servicemen: +3 years after deduction of military service rendered.
