Job Description
POWERGRID, a Maharatna Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, Govt. of India, invites applications for Non-Executive Posts. The recruitment is for Diploma Trainee (Electrical/Civil/Survey), Junior Officer Trainee (HR/F&A), and Junior Technician Trainee (Survey). Vacancies exist for POWERGRID Corporate Centre and its Regions (NR-I, NR-II, NR-III, ER-I, ER-II, Odisha Project, NER, SR-I, SR-II, WR-I, WR-II, Rajasthan Project) as well as for Central Transmission Utility of India Limited (CTUIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of POWERGRID.
Selected candidates for DTE/DTC/DTS/JOT will undergo training for one year with a Basic Pay of Rs. 21,000/- (IDA) and on successful completion will be absorbed as Junior Engineer Gr-IV/Junior Officer Gr-IV in the pay scale of Rs. 25000-3%-117500/- (IDA). Candidates for JTT (Survey) will be placed in the pay scale of Rs. 21000-3%-72000/- (IDA) during training and absorbed as Junior Technician at W3 level in the pay scale of Rs. 21500-3%-74000/- (IDA). Postings are Region-specific and candidates are liable to serve anywhere in India or abroad.
Syllabus & Exam Pattern
1. Selection Process Stages:
DTE/DTC/DTS: Written Test / Computer Based Test (CBT) - 100% weightage.
JOT (HR)/(F&A): Written Test / CBT (100% weightage) followed by Computer Skill Test (CST) - Qualifying in Nature.
JTT (Survey): Written Test / CBT (100% weightage) followed by Trade Test (TT) - Qualifying in Nature.
2. Written Test / Computer Based Test (CBT) Details:
Test Duration: 2 Hours (Compensatory time of 20 mins/hour allowed for eligible PwBD candidates).
Question Type: Objective Type (Multiple Choice Questions).
Total Questions: 170 Questions (Each question carries 1 Mark).
Negative Marking: 1/4 Mark will be deducted for each wrong answer or multiple answers.
3. Syllabus / Question Paper Structure:
Part-I (Discipline Specific): 120 Questions
Technical Knowledge (TKT): For DTE/DTC/DTS/JTT(Survey) posts. Questions specific to Electrical, Civil, Survey Engineering or Surveyor Trade respectively.
Professional Knowledge (PKT): For JOT(HR)/JOT(F&A) posts. Questions specific to HR domain or Finance & Accounts domain.
Part-II (Aptitude Test): 50 Questions
English vocabulary, verbal comprehension, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, data sufficiency and interpretation, numerical ability, and General Awareness.

5. Skill Test / Trade Test (Qualifying Nature):
Computer Skill Test (CST) - For JOT: Qualifying marks are 50% for Unreserved/EWS and 40% for Reserved category.
Trade Test - For JTT (Survey): Qualifying marks are 40% for Unreserved/EWS and 30% for Reserved category.
6. Empanelment:
Final merit list will be prepared based solely on the marks obtained in the Written Test/CBT (100% weightage). Qualifying in CST/Trade Test is mandatory to be considered for merit but carries no weightage.

Note: Final Year/Semester students expecting results by 15.07.2026 are provisionally eligible, provided they obtain the requisite minimum % marks in aggregate of all semesters up to pre-final examination.
Eligibility Criteria
Nationality: Only Indian Nationals of age 18 years or above.
Qualification Recognition: Essential qualification must be recognized in India and from a recognized Institution/Technical Board/University (UGC/DGT/AICTE/ICAI etc.).
Higher Qualification Restriction: As detailed in the Educational Qualification section, candidates possessing higher qualifications (e.g., B.Tech for Diploma posts; CA/CMA Final for Inter posts) at the time of application or joining are strictly not eligible. A mandatory undertaking must be submitted stating that the candidate does not possess such higher qualifications.
Marks Calculation: Percentage of marks shall be calculated based on the practice followed by the University/Board. If CGPA is awarded, equivalent percentage must be indicated; if no conversion scheme exists, the equivalence is established by dividing the candidate's CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying by 10. Marks will NOT be rounded off.
