Minimum Qualifying Marks in CBT
| Category | Minimum Qualifying Marks |
|---|---|
| OBC | 50% |
| SC / ST | 45% |
Skill Test / Technical Examination (Wherever Required)
| Feature | Detail |
|---|---|
| Purpose | Qualifying only (marks not counted in final merit) |
| Shortlisting Ratio | 3 times the number of posts in each category |
| Tie-breaking | All tied candidates at last position are called |
| Order of List | By Roll No. / Alphabetical order (NOT by merit) |
| Effect | A candidate with high CBT marks can be rejected if they fail the Skill Test |
| Final Merit | CBT merit declared after qualifying Skill Test |
Tie-Breaking Rules (For CBT Merit List)
If two or more candidates score the same total marks in CBT, the following order is applied:
| Priority | Rule |
|---|---|
| 1 | Total marks of tied candidates |
| 2 | Date of birth (older candidate placed higher) |
| 3 | Number of wrong answers / negative marks (less wrong answers = higher rank) |
| 4 | Total marks in the 'core' section of the exam (higher core marks = higher rank) |
| 5 | Application number (earlier application number placed higher) |
Normalization (If Exam Held in Multiple Shifts)
If the CBT for a post is conducted in multiple shifts, a normalization formula will be applied. The process (detailed in Annexure 1 of the PDF) involves:
| Step | Description |
|---|---|
| Step 1 | Convert raw scores to percentile scores (calculated separately for each shift) |
| Step 2 | Combine data from all shifts, sort by percentile, and fill gaps using linear interpolation |
| Step 3 | Calculate normalized score = average of raw scores corresponding to the same percentile across all shifts |
This ensures fairness across different shifts of varying difficulty.
